Talk Title: Impact of Coastal Vegetation on Wave Damping and Sediment Resuspension

Brief Introduction: Heidi Nepf is the Donald and Martha Harleman Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She received a doctorate from Stanford University (1992) and began her career at MIT in 1993. She is internationally known for her work on the impact of vegetation on currents, waves, and sediment transport in channels, wetlands, and coastal zones. The Nepf Lab develops models for the physical processes that determine how vegetated habitats, such as seagrasses, marshes, and mangroves, provide coastal protection, impact landscape stability, improve water quality, and provide blue carbon reservoirs. She is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union.
